When I was a kid, Wellington was known to be unbeatable.
But when I visited for the first time in June, I found a city trapped in the 1980s.
Decades enthralled to the nostalgia of curtain twitchers & pearl clutchers have created a city that refuses to change — which means skyrocketing cost-of-living and a depressed vibe have taken the city.
While Wellington has wallowed in nostalgia, Auckland has been building.
New housing, new train stations, and new public spaces have meant Auckland is turning the corner on the housing crisis, becoming more connected than ever, and injecting vibrancy into the city’s streets & businesses.
I’ve lived & breathed these changes for years.
I’m the candidate to cut through the nostalgia.
I’m the candidate to deliver real change
I’m the candidate with Auckland solutions for Wellington problems.
My top priorities
Build, baby, build
I’m going to end the ‘culture of no’ which is interfering with critical housing & infrastructure projects. I’m ready to the political heat from tackling the entrenched interests which are cancelling, delaying, and escalating the ratepayer costs for any project that makes Wellington a better place to live.
Yes in my backyard!
Make government pay their fair share
The government is the largest landowner in the city, but pays $0 in rates. This burden gets pushed to Wellington households & businesses to pick up the tab for the services and infrastructure that they consume. Council provides the services which means that Council has the leverage. Time to start using it.

Wellington CRL
10 years ago, Wellington and Auckland both faced the same problem: the city’s rail network dumped you on the edge of the city — not in it. Auckland actually decided to do something about it: the City Rail Link, which lets people get straight into the heart of the city.
It’s time Wellington did the same: a rapid transit spine connecting Wellington Station to Newton Hospital and beyond.
